Dr. Unnur Óttarsdóttir gave a lecture and workshop at the LÁ Art Museum in Iceland. There were interested and interesting participants, and it was enjoyable informing them about research on memory drawing. Unnur shared her recent research, which indicated that drawing significantly boosts memory recall, especially for individuals who struggle with memorising written words. Interestingly, those who easily remember written words generally tend to retain drawings more effectively over time. It was also explored how memory drawing can help traumatised children, offering a creative, therapeutic and educational tool for facilitating well-being and learning. An interesting discussion took place about, for example, how to incorporate art-making into education.
